Why you Should NEVER Bitch at Your Visitors
It's your website right? So why shouldn't you be able to post whatever you want? Why not rant and rave about all the politics and people in the world that make you mad right on your home page. Or better yet? Why not tell everyone who doesn't believe in the same things to bugger off (only not so nicely). I have found a few dolling websites like this recently. Well in the end what you do with your website is up to you, but if your goal is to attract people, this is obviously a bad step. Sure there might be the occasional off the wall person who finds such tirades attractive, but MOST people just want to get to your dolls and they'll do it regardless of what you post on your homepage. So here are some reasons why you should never bitch at your visitors.
Telling people to get off your site if they *insert long list of things* is annoying to EVERYONE not just to the people you want to get rid of. It's alright to be expressive but please don't shove your beliefs down our throats every time we access your homepage. Now everytime someone wants to visit your webpage they see a long paragraph of your cussing tirade. Thats overkill don't you think?
The Homepage is NOT the place to post your personal beliefs on a doll site. That's what the "about" page is for. If someone wants to know more about you, that's where they go. It might sound brutal, but most internet users are in a hurry don't care who you are, they have an objective and spend usually only seconds on a website. So if they want to find a base and the first thing they see is a long paragraph describing your woes they aren't likely to read it anyway.
It's one thing to warn the public that you have adult material on your site, it's another to tell people how disgusted you are that they find your dolls offensive because of the adult content in them. The best way to inform people that you have content thay may be unappropriate for underage visitors is to state so on your homepage, but stop and think before you start bashing people. Isn't the point of a website to attract visitors? Logically cussing people out because they find homosexuality or lots of gore offensive is counter-intuitive.
The dolling community is about branching out and finding others who enjoy dolling. Being a bigot and in-tolerate of someone else's beliefs defeats the purpose of interaction. Sometimes people can be so left-winged they swing full circle. It's a good idea to be nice to and tolerant of your visitors. You'll get more visitors coming back and have more user interaction. You might even make a few friends. So think before you post. And remember, if you don't have anything nice to say find somewhere else to post it besides the homepage.
